About
The ‘Introduction to working with the Caregiver-Infant relationship’ is a once-a-week, 8-week training course that provides caregiving professionals (nannies, nurses, social workers, child and youth care workers, orphanage staff, etc.) with an introduction to infant and perinatal mental health. This course examines the parent/caregiver-infant relationship and gives participants an understanding of attachment and infant development. This is a new field which focuses on the crucial importance of the relationship between primary caregiver and infant for future functioning. The course includes learning to observe interactions between caregivers and infants. It explores the beginnings of attachment difficulties and provides participants with input on how to support this early relationship. The course is experiential and includes theory, a group process and parent-infant observations. it is presented by presented by qualified parent-infant psychotherapist/ psychologist facilitators.
